GOST standard for batteries of electric mopeds and motorcycles
11 February 2021
The national standard GOST R ISO 18243-2020 “Electric propelled mopeds and motorcycles. Safety requirements for lithium-ion battery systems and test specifications" will come into force from March 1, 2021.
The new standard applies to batteries for electric motorcycles and mopeds and sets out the safety requirements for lithium-ion battery packs and systems used in electric mopeds and motorcycles and their test methods.
Using the test methods set out in the new standard enables the user to determine the key performance, safety and reliability characteristics of lithium-ion battery packs and systems, and to compare test results between different battery packs or systems.
GOST R ISO 18243-2020 provides the ability to develop a specialized test plan for an individual battery pack or system in accordance with agreement between the customer and the supplier. Where such a test plan needs to be developed, appropriate test methods and/or test conditions for Li-ion battery packs and systems may be applied from those specified in this standard.
